you could analyze the piece you are not sure about. Then you would pick out key points depending on the assignment of the piece to get a better understanding of what is going on without making it hard or difficult. If you were to do a summary you would pick out the who, what, where, when, why and how to help you. Another good thing to do is to simplify certain words or phrases of the text so it will be easier to read.

To understand the text, first I look back to the title of it to get an idea of what it's about, and from then on I look out for anything relating to the name of the title

What helps understand the text, is reading it over until I comprehend. I look at how the text and the title relate. I underline useful information. I look at how it is written (first person etc.).

when i dont understand a text or a passage of reading i go back and try reading it over taking each sentence piece by piece try interperting the meaning of each and every sentence analyzing each part of it.

When I don't understand a particular text, I look for others who have read the same piece and ask them for some clarification. If I can't do that, I read each sentence one at a time and try to come up with a translation, almost; I put the text into words I can better understand, making reading the passage much easier.

i approach a piece of writing that does not make sense to me by reading it over again, slowly and highlighting, vocabulary, and whats going on in that certain paragraph so i basically brake it down to make it easier

I use the title of the text to begin searching throughout the text to see if i can find anything that relates the the text. I also try to use the context in which the words are used

Usually I would quickly go over what the writing says, and if I can't understand what it's saying, then I'll usually look at 2-4 sentences at once instead of the whole paragraph. That way I can break everything down, and understand it one by one. If I come across a word I do not understand, I'll go on a website with a dictionary on it, and look it up. Usually that is how I'll figure out what the writing says.

i would approach a piece of writing by analyzing it for any kinds of symbolism, or any strange words that i dont understand. i would look in a dictionary for the words that i dont understand. i would try to see how the story is being told... for example, if it is being told by 1st person or if its a biography.

To understand the text i would read it over to make sense of it try to put it in my own words. Look for key words to see if it is written in the 3rd or 1st person. Or take the dictionary and look up the words that i don't have knowledge of.
