Discussing Romantic lit and its components.

Post to the blog – what do all of the author’s we’ve discussed who wrote during the romantic period (whether romantic, transcendental or gothic) have in common? Give specific examples.

Please remember to bring in a copy of the Bluest Eye for class tomorrow.

They all go against the grain in one way or another; Emily was agoraphobic, Edward was highly macabre, and Walt was...unusually optimistic? I'm not precisely sure how to describe his particular idiosyncrasy, but I do know that he is unusual.

i think something that the authors we have been studying have in common is there vocabulary and the deph and there specific feelings, they clearly state what they feel, they know how to express there feelings.

both writers were gothic but only in terms of what they wrote about. but they were also gothic writers in the way its delievered. the dark tones and honest situtions. which iblieve is the sceond aspect of gothic lit. The first being going agienst the grain. Which joins them even more because both thier tone and message were very similair

I BELIEVE A ELEMENT THAT ALL AUTHORS HAVE IN COMMON IS THERE WRITING IS WEIRD YET CREATIVE. A LOT OF WHAT THESE AUTHORS WROTE YOU WILL NOT GET RIGHT OFF THE BACK. U REALLY HAVE TO THINK OUT THE BOX AND REALLY TRY TO DELVE INTO WHAT THE AUTHOR IS WRITING. ALSO EACH AUTHOR WROTE ABOUT THINGS MANY OF MY PEERS MY AGE NEVER HEARD OFF. SO IALSO ADVANCED WRITING IS ANOTHER!

I feel that all the writers write similar. They usually start off with gothic writing. There never easy to understand when you first read it but what i like is it give you a challenge to see where the author is coming from and no answer is wrong.

All authors that we've read and discussed in class certainly have one thing in common, they write their feelings out. They all use a wide variety of vocabulary, certainly words that aren't used in everyday language. Edward Allan Poe used words that can connect to anger and violence.

Some of the things that the writers have in common, is in their way of explaining using metaphor etc. They are also very emotional and personal in their work, their opinions are usally visable.

Most of the authors we have done in class this far and I think every great writer will use plenty of diction and descriptive language to explain their perspective and views. Even if their emtions may range in every author the emotion and tone is always there.Every author having their own individuality shine through their writing making each have their own siginificant meaning and purposes

They all use a very difficult vocabulary. Their work usually has more depth then what the reader appears to relize. Also they seem to frequently use metaphors.

I don't remember the exact names of the texts we read, but i remember that in the romanticism and gothic texts that we read all have some of the most descriptive sets of vocabulary i have read. The vocabulary describes it so that yoy get a very visual picture in your mind.

tHERE STYLE OF WRITING ALL HAD LOADS OF DETAIL. mOST OF THEM WAS HARD TO UNDERSTAND TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH. tHERE FEELINGS ABOUT WHAT THEY WERE WRITING ABOUT SEEMED TO BE STRONG NO MATTER WHAT THEIR STYLE WAS. WEATHER IT WAS transcendental or gothic it was clear what they were saying.
