Something that find intersting about Walt whitman and is still revalent today, is the fact that he wrote about scoial issues that are still impoertant today. Things such as race and politics. Besides the fact that he was a head of the curve espesscial for his time. He also didnt care considering that these things werent talked about at all, or approuched with a very narrow mind

One thing I found Interesting about Whitman that he often spoke poetically of events that were current to his time, like poets of today do, rather than of any one specific topic, such as love or thought

What i found intresting about Whitman was that his style of writing was very relevant to his outspoken personality he was spoke in what he thought was the truth. He brought up issues of politics and race two things that were almost never written about during his time. He was an influential writer. He wrote with his true opinion at heart.

A THING THAT I FOUND INTERESTING ABOUT WHITMAN WERE HIS INFLUENCES. LIE MANY PEOPLE HE WAS INFLUENCED BY THINGS THAT HAPPENED WHICH INSPIRED HIM TO WRITE. I ALSO FOUND IT PRETTY FASCINATING HOW OPERA INFLUNCED HIM!

One thing I find interesting about Whitman that continues to make Whitman relevant to readers today, is that he spoke of problems that are still going on today such as racism and politics. These problems are still around today so it is appealing for people like us to read his writing.

One thing i found interesting about Whitman was that he kept up to date with his writing. Instead of writing about the past we wrote up to date thing's, thing's in his time period. And that opera influence i still doubt that in some way

A thing I liked about witmans writing is that to this day we can all conect to it, with the problems going on in today world and society. And he wrote it seemed without thinking ofhis decision over, he was ssure about What he was trying to say and what he wanted people to know about

whitman was a very unique writer because he wrote about events that really weren't discussed back in his time. He would bring up topics such as politics and race; two topics that would now be subjects to write about. We can all relate to Whitman's writing.

1. What are the characteristics of Whitman’s writing?
Whitman uses elements of romanticism and transcendentalism in his writing.

2. What influence has Whitman’s writing had?

3. What makes Whitman a “modern” poet?
Whitman discusses oft-ignored, sometimes taboo topics such as race, politics, sexuality, and human nature, in a time where doing such things was risky and not particularly common. Today, making such observations is widely practiced and encouraged; the satirical, left-leaning newspaper The Onion has become a household name and is read by millions of people each day. Liberal and moderate mediums have developed to counter what many consider to be a largely conservative-Republican mainstream media.

4. What makes him a transcendental writer?

5. What did Emerson have to say about Whitman’s writing as per his letter to him after it was first published?
I don't have the original text with me right now, but I recall that Emerson had only glowing praise for Whitman and his work. Whitman actually used the letter in his second addition of Leaves of Grass, as a promotional plug of sorts.
