Work for the weekend

After watching all of the groups share in class, what was one thing that appealed to you from any of the presentations other than your own?

What do you like about Emerson? or What do you dislike about him? Be specific. Try to really consider something you learned about transcendentalism.

Post your comments to this post.

the presentations all showed emerson's ideas and it presented and showed his ideas of how people and things are alike, the presentations provided a good amount of information about his writings and what he thinks about peoples mind and how people act like, it better explained it to me. Also i like emerson's writing because he shows different ways to veiw things in ways i never thought of how to before. What i dont like about his writing is that it is a little confusing sometimes and the advance vocabulary he uses which i am not used to.

The presentation that I had liked besides my own. Was Emerson's essay on nature. He has very strong view as he does with all his essays. But his essay on nature stuck me that most because for one, his languge is very discriptive. Second I agree with is views. As well as those who presnted it very well. so it helped to make me agree with this essay more than the other.

All of the presentations signified different ideas that Emerson had, they were all very similar in ideas.
One thing that appealed to me from any of the presentations was nominalist and realistic group, because the entire group seemed to understand their essay and translated it well to the class. I liked their perspectives as well.
What I like the most about Emerson is his logic and reasoning. I think he has a sensible mind, and notices the real importance's of life.
One thing I learned from Emerson was that our possession are not important but the natural things in life are the ones that are important.

I liked the fact that all of his essays were connected to one another in some way or other, and they were all able to evoke some sort of thought onto ourselves and to others.
He is most definitely a great transcendental author

One thing i like about Emerson is his view on things. How he says something and backs it up with 3 or 4 examples. The one presentation i liked was our group on the essay "The poet" and how it talked about people's intellectuality how they fake it just to blend in.

one thing that appealed to me in the presentations was the type of literature. it really made me compare and contrast between that type and the type i used to read as a kid. i really enjoyed the presentations.

All the presentations were really good. The main thing that appealed to me was that Emersons ideas all seemed the same but it wasnt that it was just that he thought the way we all should.
I like that Emerson looked deeper into any situation than the normal person but i feel we should all think this way more often. What i didnt like was his writing and his advanced vocabulary.

I think most of the presentations gave valid points from their passages.Giving differnt examples for each conclusion they came to notice. Emersons views and theories are very coherient in each passage.Even though each passage had there own share of morals and philosiphical attributes the basic theories were represented exactly the same . Emersons ideas of what truth is and what it represents in his eyes. One group that i felt did a great job explaining their passage, was the essay on self reliance this passage shows very clearly were Emersons beliefs stand

most of the presentations had something that i agreed with. one thing that i agreed with was 'intellect' one. it described the way that he uses and older style of language and how emerson writes about old topics as well. hamlet was mentioned.

He backed out all his work with revelent information and all the essays seemed to connect to each other in some way l, he wrote with a lot of passion and security knowingthat he was right and even I people thought so diferently he would still stand close to his beliefs
