- Interpret the quote
- Agree OR disagree with the quote
- Support your interpretations with specific things from the text (in this case, The Bluest Eye)
- Each paragraph should address something specific relating to theme, author's craft, setting, characterization, symbolism, irony etc
- Conclude your essay coming back to the quote in some way... what do you want your reader to walk away thinking about?
