Pan afericanism is the want and love for africa so much that you would want to live there...kind of going back to your "roots" in a way. Rachel talked about a lot of the book that W.E.B. Du Dois. Also she talked about his founded accomplishments.

Carl Van Vechten was famous for being a jazz pinaoist. I think something that was interesting was that he was gay regardless of having a wife.

He was a writer, doctor and pianoist. He wrote fiction pieces. He died of a stomach disorder.

He wrote books that talked the comparison between whites and blacks. In his earlys years he was a teacher. Later in his life He joined the army and was discharged honorably.

Eloise Thompson went to howard. She was a very well educated as a child. As an adult she wrote plays and for magizines as well.

In Zora's early life she was a maid to a singer. her father became mayor of the town she lived in. something interesting about her is that she was accused of molesting a boy as a young women.
She was very interesting both good and bad. She was sucessful in life but she she had drinking problems as well.

Pen Africanism is the belief that all black people at one point in their life must return to Africa. Rachel talked about Dubois' approach in his writing, being focused mainly on black people proving themselves as people, and his many debates with Booker T. Washington.

Carl Van Vechten was incredibly unique in that he was the only white person who was part of the Harlem Renaissance, wrote from a Black perspective, and had many interracial groups, despite the negative feedback it received.

Rudolph Fisher was a fiction writer, doctor, scientist, and musician, a very multi-talented person. He died at an early age from an unknown stomach disorder

Arthur's main point in his writings were comparing whites and blacks, as apposed to making any group better or worse than the other. He was in World War II and earned an honorable discharge.

Eloise Bibb Thompson, due to an early education, was able to enroll into Howard university, where she graduated. As an asult, she wrote for magazines in Los Angeles along with her husband Noah Davis Thompson. Her plays and poems were all about giving voice to black people, and to advance them in the eyes of others

As a child, Zora was raised by her mother, who worked in Church, and her father who was a senator. Her life was changed with her mother's
sudden passing. She lied about her age for employment, and nearly killed her fathers new girlfreind.
As a person, Zora Neal Hurston was a very lively and kind person.

She was a very influncal person. In lit and African Americans.

Rachel talked about Panafricanism or something near that word and how her character was so into it. Another thing was her character wasn't introduced into real racism until he moved to the south.

Haley's character was famous because of his book soul of black folks. The one thing intesting about his life was that while being married he was gay.

Rudolph fisher was a writer a piano player and a scientist.
His death wasn't specific a stomach virus maybe.

Arthur Fauset wrote about black and white. He became a teacher.

Eloise Thompson went to Howard university. Unpleasant one. She became a poet a writer and a teacher. Her focus was black peoples humanity.

Zora was raised by her mother. What changed her life was the passing away of her mother and after only 2 weeks her father getting a replacement, Zora almost beat the life out of her. Interesting points were she lied about her age to gain work and how she repeated high school well one year 20 times or so. Zora character would be a very strange unique women.

Pan-Africanism is the belief that all black people should return to the mother land of Africa. Havard expected WED Dubois, and he was the first to join the NAACP.

He was famous for photography and few writings. It was interesting to find out that he was in a married relationship and yet gay.

He showed black people have talents just as much as anyone else. He wrote non fiction stories. Passed away in late 1930's due to heartattack.

In his earlier years he served as a principle in philliy council. Later in his life he served as a soldier in WWII.

She graduated from harvard.
She grew up middle class. She married a writer and wanted to become a teacher. As an adult her main focus was to give blacks humanity.

Zora's mom died and her father found a new girlfriend aout a week after her mothers death. Zora beat the lady almost to death. Her mothers death changed her life. I found it interesting she repeated high school 20 times and finally went to college and studied aboard. Zora seemed like she went though alot in life but overrall made it through and proved herself to the world.

Pan-africanism is an idea and belief to end slavery and the slave trade.2 things Rachel talked about were that he had really outstanding grades and Harvard usually did not accept blacks but since his grades were so great they accepted him. Rachel also mentioned that he was born in Massachusetts and he wrote the “Philadelphia negro"

Carl Van Vechten was famous for his book nigger heaven. Something interesting about his life was that he was a music critic while he was a photographer.

Rudolph Fisher different careers were physiciam, and musician. He wrote about how life is as a black person. He died of a rare stomach disorder.

Arthur Fauset contributed to the Harlem renaissance by being a civil rights activist. During his early years he was a teacher and a folklorist

Eloise Thompson she had a really gifted childhood she wrote plays, they were mainly about giving black people voices and showing people that the werent bad.

Neale Hurston early life was hard and she had lied about where she was born and her age. The event that changed her early life was her father remarrying after just a couple of weeks from her mother’s death. Something interesting about her life was that she studied Buddhism.
I would characterize her as strong since even though she was poor she continued with what she loved.

W.E.B Du Bois
- Pan Africanism is the idea of a political alliance or union of all African nations. Two things Rachel talked about was that Du Bois went to Gahanna at the age of 94 to study the culture, and that he published little brownie books for children.
Carl Van Veehten
-He was famous because of his writings and the music he played. He was also one of the first openly gay men during the Harlem Renaissance. I find that interesting because I imagine how difficult things were for him not only because he was black but because he was gay, and those were two things that weren’t openly accepted at time.
Rudolph Fisher
-The different careers that he had were being a writer, musician and a doctor. Fisher died from complications of a stomach disorder.
Arthur Fauset
-He was a famous writer during the Harlem Renaissance. In his early years he was a teacher, and then later in his life he was a writer, and an activist for African Americans.
Eloize Thompson
-She went to Howard University. She wrote plays to send messages out to people such as physical love and speaking out for blacks, and when she was young she wanted to become a teacher.
Zora Neal Hurston
-Her childhood was difficult, her mother died and then following weeks later his father remarried, and it was something she couldn’t deal with so she beat her stepmom up. She repeated High School 20 times. What I found interesting about her life was that even though she went through several hardships she managed to become a well known writer despite of everything.
